Please use SUBJECT in your e-mails. I agree. The former gentlemen is correct. Imagine a instance used in a semi oltp way that has batch tables created every few days, like a billing system ..... Now also imagine that you want only 12 months worth this stuff really hot, on expensive EMC disks on V class servers, but you still want to be able to access the older stuff, though seldom. You could shunt the data into another instance on another machine an old K perhaps with much cheaper disks and create a synonym across to it. This gives you the best of all worlds.
