Could anyone help me with the following problem: I am trying to compile my 4gl program using -shared option (I want my exec file to be smaller). I can't run my program - I get message: dynamic linker: error opening lib4gsh720.so Killed What do I need to do to run my program? Thanks in advance, Regards, RW.
Hi,
I think you forgot to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH (in Solaris) -or- equivalent
<runtime-shared-lib-search-path> environment variable to point to
$INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools. i.e. In Solaris,
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools #--csh
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools #--ksh
After setting this env. variable, just execute your program(a.out).
Hope this helps,
Rahul.

Installation of 4GL program is wrong and doesn't creates the appropiate link. 1. Connect as root 2. cd /usr/lib 3 ln -s $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools/lib4gsh720.so . and compiler should work fine. Either: ensure $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools is included in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or its equivalent on your O/S Or: ensure $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools is handled by ld.so.cache (Linux) Or: add a symlink in /usr/lib referencing $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools/lib4gsh720.so Or: Decide to add $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools/lib4gsh720.so to your link options -- but don't move INFORMIXDIR after building your executable. If the code has to be moved to a new machine, the INFORMIXDIR must be in the same place on the new machine. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
