Re: Configuration problems on NT
Posted in 2000
This is what my ONCONFIG file looks like for the tape dev.
I have it backing up to disk.
# Log Archive Tape Device
LTAPEDEV D:\\ifxback\\log\\logback # Log tape device path
LTAPEBLK 16 # Log tape block size (Kbytes)
LTAPESIZE 70000 # Max amount of data to put on log tape
(Kbytes)
When you run an 'ontape -c' it will ask you to:
"Please mount tape 1 on D:\\ifxback\\log\\logback and press return to
continue..."
If you hit enter on this, it will begin to continuously backup your logs to
disk. You will not see anything
on the screen, though. The cursor will move down one line but that's it.
If you check your logs (onstat -l)
or look at the running log (onstat -m) you will see that the logs are being
backed up.
You do, however, have to leave the window minimized while you are logged
into the server as the user
that initiated the ontape -c as far as I know. If you log out and log back
in (as the same or a different user)
then you will not see the window that you started the ontape -c in anymore.
But if you try to start another
log backup, then it will fail, telling you that one is already running.
The only time you would need to re-start
the log backup is if you reboot the computer.

I can't find the option that allow me to backup on the hard drive. When
typing ontape -c or -a, the programm asks me to mount the tape. What do
you type exactly to backup on your HD ?
Thanks
