Hi chelsia.
Sorry my poor English(Because I am Japanese.)
Was not anything written in the log?
e.g)
ifmx28% pwd
/informix/i.Sell/iSell2.00/logs
ifmx28% ls *logdebug.log dynamo.log error.log info.log warning.log
There might be a comment from other people if the information exists.

Before you buy.
Hi All, I've just joined this newsgroup. Hiii....nice to know you all. I'm very new with ISell, and I'm learning the administration now. So, yesterday I played around with OnArchive backup and restore command, I did backup and I restored. After that the ISell server is down, can't do the startISell command. The operation system is Sun Solaris 2.3. Please give me some advices how to recovery it. Thank you. -- Best Regards, Chelsia

Suggestion: please use meaning information in the subject line of your
message. I very nearly skipped this message completely simply because
of the subject line.

I see several problems, but I have no detailed answers.
First, Solaris 2.3 is not Y2K-compliant; you should be using Solaris
2.5.1 at the absolute minimum, and probably Solaris 7 or 8.
Second, using OnArchive is not the way to start out; use ontape or
onbar.
Third, I wonder what version of IDS you are using? It is usually
helpful to list the version of the database server you are using, as
well as the platform and o/s version (which you did give). I would not
expect i.Sell to work with versions available for Solaris 2.3, or if you
are using current versions of the servers, I would not expect them to
work on Solaris 2.3.
So much for preliminary observations. If you've got tech support from
Informix, you should use it -- down systems are the sort of thing they
are good at dealing with. If you don't have tech support from Informix,
you should probably buy it, but you would also need to upgrade your o/s.
If you can't do that either, then maybe the best thing is to
reinitialize the OnLine system. However, before doing that, you should
certainly look at all the log files to see why your system is down.
There should be messages in the IDS log file, and maybe in the log files
associated with OnArchive.
After this, I don't know enough about startISell does to be able to help
more.

What version of Informix. 2. Please recheck what operating system you are using 2.3 sounds pretty old for isell 3. Is the database server up? 4. Are you sure the restore completed successfully. 5. Define can't do the startISell command. Do you get error messages? Does it just not bring the server up? Hope to help, Will P.S. I also seem to recall the ISell server has a really verbose error log, what is contained in that might be helpful in troubleshooting this problem. Hi William,
Thanks for reply...
I'm sorry. We're using Sun OS 5.7 and Informix Dynamic Server 2000 ver
9.21.
That day, u know what we're doing?
Just use command : oninit -i and then reinstall the database again.
At that time I didn't backup the logical log file, maybe that's the causes
of that problem.
Now I'm learning again to backup logical log files.
Have any idea how to do it?
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Chelsia
