Hello list, Is it possible to read a C variable/structure definition from a text file, allocate memory from heap and make/bind it as a ESQL/C variable all at runtime ?? By looking at the .c file esql generates, It seems that it is using some undocumented _sqlxxx functions. I don't see anything about binding variables in Programmers Manual 5.0 .... Where else should I look ? Any good ideas ? OL 4.20.UC1 - 7.10.UC1 AIX 4.1.5 + Thanks, Sunil

Look in the ESQL manual in the section on Dynamic SQL programming and specifically at the documentation of the SQLDA structure and the DESCRIBE statement. This is what you are looking for. Those esotheric data structures and calls you see are just setting up the sqlda structures using initialization (the hard way). Art S. Kagel
