Yes, I noticed that latter, but couldn't undestand why ontape worked
anyway, until I saw ontape running as root (bad boy ontape). Changed the
permission to the device, changed thimgs with onmonitor, and went back
to the old premissions, and everything OK!

Ontape is SUPPOSED to run as root. ls -l $INFORMIXDIR/bin/ontape should say:
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root informix ..................... ontape
