production archive
Posted in 1998
Hi all
I am currently preparing a Solaris 2.6 / Informix DS 7.23.UC4
machine for production with respect to archive and restore procedures.
I am
currently using ontape ( to a tape drive) to do this with....my only
"beef" is the fact that I need logical logs to do a warm restore. (Or
cold ). What if a user *accidently* deletes a database and frantically
wants it back? In doing a warm restore of the space, it will recover
just fine until you apply the logs that contain the "delete" transaction
which will just remove it. Any ideas?
As far as production archive and restore procedures what do most
of you all out there use? Is ontape sufficient? Do you also dbexport?
What
kind of cycle do you use?
I'd like to use onbar except I don't have a storage manager on
this machine.
TIA,
Maria
