[NOT] What this works out to is the following: $40/hr for 6 months works out to 40K (2000 man hours a year) From that 40K, if you are W2, they have to pay witholding and taxes. Read 30% or so. Federal, then add state. Otherwise if it a 1099 you pay the state/fed taxes + 13% for SS etc ... Which means that for 6 months work you end up with 20K and no bennifits. Now, they are most likely low balling to get the work, and want a warm body to fill the contract. Most likely they are asking 60-75 for you. If they are asking more, then they really have to be stupid. Or it could be that you are wanted to become a sub contractor to a sub contractor to a sub contractor, and they all want their cut of the action. I really hate morons like this. Don't you? BTW, if you have to travel, I'm sure they would want you to pick up the tab.
