I have no clue how you expect much help when you say nothing about
what product you have.
You mention bcheck so it seems you have an Informix SE engine.
But what OS and machine?
Some old versions, I am no longer sure which, had bugs like this.
The indexes would become corrupt without any hardware or other
problems. It was an internal Informix bug. This did exist in some
version 4.x products, and possibly in some very early 5.x of SE
as well. These couldn't be fixed by bcheck. We at the time had
to create a new table, insert all data into that with:
insert into newtable
select * from oldtable
with no where clause so we where sure no indexes where used. Then drop oldtable, rename newtable to oldtable and recreate
the indexes.
You could probably unload the data, drop the table,
recreate it, load the table again and recreate the indexes.
All this isn't worth it. The answer as allways in our bussiness
is to upgrade. That is, if you don't actually find a hardware
failiure.
