But I was always told by Informix and this group that the RM would eat up performance. > 5.X and earlier clients do not know how to talk to the network directly Yes, I'm aware that a local "sqlexec" is started for each client that talks to the server over the network. This has not been a problem in the past, while the server was Online 5.x. I was just wondering whether this will be a problem now that the server is 7.30, but apparently it isn't. > Instead of the relay module, you were running sqlexec on the client side, > which is a much larger process due to all the functionality needed to > access a database. The relay module has all that stripped away. Do I understand correctly that I would actually GAIN performance if I told my client apps to use the relay module instead of "sqlexec", even against a 5.x server? > I suggest you try benchmarking an app using the r/m with one using your > above method and see what the differences are. I'll give that a try and report my results.
