We still don't see performance problems with RAID-5. Maybe it is because we are using Sun's StorageArray and EMC's Symmetix. Sun's StorageArray can run 25MByte in one direction and it supports both directions simultaneously. EMC's Symmetrix has one terabyte hard disk but it has 3.5 GByte cache. We do use continuous backup for Sparc 2000E with EMC Symmetrix. Besides, we also have optical jukeboxes and tape jukeboxes to backup a major portion of our database. Our client is willing to pay the high price to back up the system three times. I guess it really depends on your requirements. Chao
