Re: Pseudo Code or Compiled
Posted in 1996
This is one of the classic questions with INFORMIX-4GL. The Value-Added reseller could be quite correct in saying that it is not worth the money upgrading to compiled 4gl. There are incompatibilities between RDS and compiled 4GL and the debugging of these could cause problems. The value added reseller may also sell the application to other parties and would not want to have two sets to code to maintain. That said the compiled version would permit more users on the same box before swapping occurs. You imply that you only have 6 users. If that is the case I doubt whether it really is justifiable to go to the expense of compiled 4GL. If you have performance problems with that number of users I suspect you will still have performance problems with the compiled version. If you need any more help, and are willing to discuss who the VAR is please contact me via personal e-mail. > > Chaps and Chapetes > > I have been having an argument with a third party software house > ( bit of a waste of time really ! ) > > We have been shipped an application which has been compiled to pseudo > code > and a runner.
