Pentium based system with at least 16 mb (32 mb or more would be best) Windows NT is best (but you can even do it in Windows 95) > What ISP connection do I need ? ISDN line - some ISPs offer dedicated phone lines if bandwidth is not the issue and/or you have a low budget. Otherwise a dedicated ISDN line is the way to start. > and What software products/tools do I need ? I suggest you take a look at WebFiler (http://www.webfiler.com). This is a new Web database from Alpha Software. It comes with its own native database engine and will also connect to any other database system through ODBC - such as SQL Server and Oracle. The thing that makes WebFiler unique is that it is a totally menu driven system, that works "right out of the box". You don't have to do any programming or scripting and you do not even need to know how to form SQL SELECT statements. Its just like a desktop database, only it is on the web and controlled completely through just your web browser. There's an on-line demo at the WebFiler site I mentioned above - so its easy to check it out. Alpha also runs its own hosting service just for WebFiler so you can get your database up and running even if you do not have a Web server of your own. Hope this helps. -Peter Mesnik In article <3396ba96.28403185@news.curie.dialix.com.au>, jock@curie.dialix.com.au (Mark Giacheri) wrote: > > I want to set up my own pc based web database. > My site will be a simple an small classifieds database website. > > In order to get a web database up and running... what... > > What hardware requirements do I need ? > > What ISP connection do I need ? > > and What software products/tools do I need ? > > Any information regarding everything I need to get a pc based database > website up and running would be appreciated.. thank you. -------------------==== Posted via Deja News ====----------------------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Post to Usenet
