Is an unusual amount of write activity occurring during your backups. If so, you may be impacted by Defect #101062 - ARCHIVE PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION WHEN MANY CALLS TO ARC_VERY_OLD_PAGE() This was a hot topic during last week's Solutions Portal '99 technical discussions. It is supposedly fixed in Rel 9.3. We have a Sun 2000e with informix v 5.10. We have been doing a level 0 backup once a week with level 1 backups daily. The level 0 backups usually run 4-5 hours. Last week it went to 8 hours and yesterday a grand total of 19 hours. Our reps claim that our logs need to be increased but when we did this and rebooted the system would not come up giving shared memory errors. Our level 1 backups have gone from 1 hour to 2 1/2 hours. Our reps have not been able to answer what has happened. Does anyone have a similar situation that can shed a clue?
