How you implement a solution will be up to > you, but it probably isn't worth the effort. I needed the same thing at one time, and I said it was not possible with 4gl. The purpose was so that a production manager could hit <enter> at the start or end of a job in an input screen and see the current time before and while he was entering it (by just hitting enter). The boss (who was a BASIC programmer) didn't believe at first that it was impossible, I said maybe you could write a 'C' function (after reading your post I'm glad I didn't try); but we could have done is: default to the current time - then when the user hits enter, if the current time = the time presently in the field (to the minute), then update the time to the current time else go to the next field. It wasn't pretty but it was the best I could come up with. Cheers, Douglas Wilson
