Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
I have verified that I can use TRUNCATE to delete rows a table if synonym
resides in local database but not if the synonym is in a different database.
This appears to be restrictive in our environment where we have an Alias
database with synonyms to tables in 18 other databases. All the applications
connect to the Alias db.
For example, the statement:
TRUNCATE pg_maor;
gives:
-556 Cannot create, drop, or modify an object that is external to current
database.
We all know the efficiency of using TRUNCATE over DELETE.
Is there an alternate statement I can use to accomplish the results with the
same efficiency? Is there a plan to allow TRUNCATE to be used as above in
future Informix Releases.
