Informix upgradtion failed from 11.50 to 11.70

Following error is seen when Informix was upgraded from 11.50 UC1E to 11.70 FC4XYGE. Informix was installed properly. Prior to that logical log backups and ontape -s backups were taken properly. Conversion halted because logs are not backed up. To continue conversion it is necessary to restart prior server and backup logical logs. But still this problem was found. Then only cache memory was freed and database server started again using oninit -v. This time conversion completed successfully. What could be the reason behind this ?

Hi, you might have had additional activity after log backup in the old instance. Activate the old binaries, startup server in quiescent mode and backup all logs. (ontape -a or onbar equivalent). Also backup current log ! Then try again conversion with 11.70. Hope this helps. Hi, Looks version is not same , UC to FC.Means upgrade 32 to 64 also ? rgds schillache

There is no problem upgrading from a 32bit release to a 64bit release in-place. Art Art S.
