Where do I go from here?

I have, for many years, held my sales and other databases on an Informix SQL system running under SCO Unix. My accounting package is Multisoft, also on the Unix system, which has the advantage of holding its data in cisam format, allowing me to read and link supplier account data to records in my Informix databases. The company is now keen to progress to Windows NT based accounting solutions. My question is this: I there a recognised route to migrate from Informix SQL on dumb terminal systems to Windows systems? What products are involved? Will I still be able to integrate with an accounting system on the new platform? Many thanks, Paul Webster

You'll need to start using data transfers between the Informix databases and Multisoft!! >Many thanks, >Paul Webster > > -- David Williams

If you are t o change your accounting package to be on the windows box, you should look for one which keeps the data on an Informix database, this would give you all the advantages you had before. Beware of ODBC or JDBC based programs, these are normally very slow. I would recommend however that the server side should remain a UNIX box, rather than an NT. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible, and Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle.
