It's not what we're here for. We're not here to advocate our technology. If you ask, we'll say we like Informix, sometimes we'll even tell you why. But we're here to try and solve the hum-drum and not so hum-drum day to day issues of running Informix products. If you want help with that, then ask. In all honesty Obnoxious I don't care about having to learn to adminster an Informix database -- broadening my knowledge. People in this group seem to have problems with anybody saying they are going to be using any other database (guess it's one less customer for Informix), and thus my comment, like another I saw in this group, about being *forced* to admin Informix (Oracle). Yes, there are thousands of Oracle jobs out there, but I like my current job, the growth is incredible and I have no intentions of leaving -- but thanks for the advice. In terms of bashing Informix, I don't believe I have ever done that over here. I did jokingly respond to a "bash Oracle" post not even in this thread. Yes, I could post plenty of things that I like about Oracle that Informix supposedly doesn't have or do as "well" as Oracle (opinion), but that would be about as silly as posting Informix pros -- "alter table".
