Which version are you using, and which machine? There used to be some problems in this area in the 2.10.00 release of ISQL, and maybe in the .03X releases. I've not seen any similar problems in 4.00 and above. I used the modified version of your code below on a Sun (SunOS 4.1.1) running I4GL-RDS 4.00.UC1 and SE 4.00.UD2 and the program ran through with no errors. If you have a problem on an older version, you will not get any sympathy from Informix if you report the problem -- you will simply be told to upgrade. If it is a more recent version, then we'd want to know.
