CLOB contents

List, I'm having a problem solving a quite trivial matter. I want to "SELECT" the content of a CLOB. For example: SELECT getContent(FILETOCLOB('/filename','server'))... The issue here is that "getContent" doesnt exists ( its just an example for explaining my problem ), and I havent been able to find something that does that... Something I tried was: SELECT FILETOCLOB('/filename','server')::LVARCHAR ... But this returned the clob identifier. The question is : "how do i get the contents of a clob?" Cheers, -- Joshua Tagnore

Joshua,
First: What platform, version of IDS, and what do you need to use as a
front-end?
The answers may be different for different front-ends like ESQL/C, ODBC,
JDBC, sqlcmd or dbaccess, or using a 3rd party application like MS Word to
fetch the contents.
