} I have a question. I hope someone can help me with it.
} If I have a directory (dbfiles) which contains all of the files for my
} 4gl program EXCEPT .4gl and .sql files. These files are contained in
} 2 subdirectories (dbfiles/files_4gl and dbfiles/files_sql). What do
} you suggest is the best way to handle this. We have tried setting the
} DBPATH to the database directory (dbfiles in this case). When we
} tried compiling the program, it failed because it couldn't find the
} forms. The program was compiled from the dbfiles/files_4gl directory.
} I don't even know if this is do-able or not, but the result we were
} shooting for was to be able to have all the forms in one directory,
} and all the programs in another while still being able to run the
} program correctly. This is being run on an hp/apollo system using
} version 4.0 of informix standard engine. Any help would be greatly
} appreciated.
}
I'm confused... how could a compile fail just because the forms are not in
the current directory? At runtime you would get an error if the forms
weren't in the current directory or a directory listed in DBPATH, but not
at compile time. Anyway, to answer your question, try setting the following:
PATH=$PATH:/where_your_executables_are
DBPATH=:/where_your_database_is:/where_your_forms_are
