Re : INFORMIX IDS 7.x installation ERROR

sir,
Please inform the minimum system requirement for
installing Informix IDS 7.x.
We have installed IDS 7.x on SCO UNIX 5.0 in a PC
having Pentium Processor of speed 166 MHz, 48 MB RAM,
20 GB HDD. The PC is also detecting the 20 GB HDD as
8 GB only. How much memory, the UNIX detects at
maximum ?
After installations is over, on giving the command
"oninit", it is not responding. On using dbAccess, it
is displaying the error msg of "Shared Memory not
initialised". What is this error means ? How to
overcome from this ? I have seen the .log file also.
the same error line is only written.
Kindly instruct in this matter.

That's not an Informix problem. That's a different problem.
Try starting with "oninit -v" to get the verbose information... this
might tell you more.
check your Informix release notes in $INFORMIXDIR/release/
Look for machine specific stuff. Grep for "Machine" (there are lots of
files).
Check the /etc/system settings specified in the release notes against
what you have. Your SHMBASE might be off... check the notes files or
contact Informix (IBM) tech support.
Informix tech support was (is?) excellent. I am trapped behind SAP now,
but when I used to call them, they could walk me through anything!
