Informix 9.4 FC5 with SNMP support

I have a question that I hope someone can shed some light on. My VAR that provides support for my Informix 9.4 FC5 database is telling me that SNMP is not supported on AIX 5.2 ML4. I have looked at the Informix machine notes and they state that it does work. Has anyone had any experience with SNMP on Informix? Any insight that could be provide would be helpful. Regards, Nate

It's complicated. If the SNMP on AIX 5.2 is SNMP v3, then there are problems with the Informix SNMP sub-agent working with that. There are definitely problems of this sort on AIX 5.3. There is a bug for it; I don't recall the bug number right now, but it was discussed internally earlier this week or late last week. Have you tried it? I assume you did and it failed and then you asked your VAR about it. Probably, your VAR got pointed at this bug number and then didn't relay the information, or maybe the bug number was not revealed to them. However, there's at least a moderate chance that your VAR is essentially stating the correct state of affairs.
