This question's so common it's in the Informix FAQ on the IIUG web site.
You can either:
1. Use UNLOAD TO to output a delimited file and post process it using
C/Perl/Awk/whatever. Or
2. Get one of several scripts and 4GL programs in the IIUG Software
Repository to reformat dbaccess output to a more 'normal' format.
3. Get Jonathan Leffler's sqlcmd package from the IIUG Software Repository.
Sqlcmd is a commandline SQL processor which has configurable output
formatting, and it does not break lines to fit 80 columns as dbaccess does.
