Re: Report Writing Tools.

%%%%%%% Per usual, I tried to send this direct to Ruchi, but her address (cfrvm.cfr.usf.edu) is unknown on our system. A telnet to the NIC database (nic.ddn.mil) also failed to contain her address. Aliasing (ruchi%cfrvm.bitnet@vtvm2.cc.vt.edu) also failed. I repeat, perhaps we should include the IP address in .sig's. The mnemomic address by itself is worthless 99% of the time. Sending this message to everyone on the Informix-List is a complete waste of bandwidth. But here goes . . . %%%%%%% Ms. Patel, In X-Informix-List-Id: <list.1247>, you write: >I have a trial software from the IQ and SQL Soultions software. I would like >to know if anyone using these tools. We have RISC 6000. We have also tried the trial software from IQ Software. We have I-SQL and I-4GL, so we already had custom screens, reports, etc. Our Specifications: Encore Multi-Max computer (OS: Unix V4) Informix version 2.10, Standard Engine (SE) The IQ software seemed good for creating new reports by people who are not SQL/4GL experts. The IQ software lets you quickly and easily design reports, and include only the columns/data you want. It uses "pull-down" windows to display the available choices at each step. Also, it seems to run much more quickly than Informix Ace-Reports. Despite this, we did not buy the IQ software at our location. We have many SQL/4GL programmers here who can create any reports that our users need. But we have ported our programs to other locations in other states, and we do mention IQ software to these other locations. That way, if they do not have SQL/4GL programmers, they can still create custom reports. Todd Glidden CSC Inc.
