Compression of Blobs

Are there any techniques out there to compress the information stored in blobs in order to reduce the amount of storage space used?? Thanks - Geoff

I've seen an IUS website where they wrote a UDR that would make a zip copy of a blob before inserting it into the DB. Then they would later present the zipped and full version back to users for download. They wrote a C UDR to do it. Tony
