Is there any way to postpone updating indexes when doing a large # of inserts until all of the inserts are done without dropping & recreating the indexes?
Yes, check out index disabling. syntax: set indexes for $TABLE disabled; {load data} set indexes for $TABLE enabled; Thanks! No. You can DISABLE the index, however, reenabling it will cause the index to be rebuilt from scratch.
