Full update anywhere

Has anyone successfully implemented the "full update anywhere" feature of Informix Enterprise Replication. The Informix web site has a few "success stories" using ER, but only with hot backup, or read-only secondary backup for a primary server. We want to set up an OLTP system in San Francisco and Chicago with database updates happening at both sites, and either site taking over if one site goes down. Hi, yes we had successfully implemented this feature in a quite large project for the german gouverment. To be specific - we had defined IER over a datebase with about 200 tables and a complex structure of now 8 later more Serversites. Most of the tables are distributed after the Informix modells dissemination and consolidation, but some of them with "full update anywhere". The system isn´t now running for to long (about 4 or 5 month), but it works so far. For a emergency handling You will have to consider, that the replication is asynchronus and You may have some delay time during the replication process. If Your system has to be highly available You may need some kind of "emergency tool" to react quickly if "everything else goes wrong". If You have forther questions, feel free to ask. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Sven Boehme debis IT Services by DaimlerChrysler voice: +(49) 228 9841-421 Rabinstr. 8 fax: +(49) 228 9841-62 D-53111 Bonn email: sboehme@debis.com Germany ----------------------------------------------------------------------- jshaley@my-dejanews.com wrote: > Has anyone successfully implemented the "full update anywhere" feature > of Informix Enterprise Replication. I do a lot of support work with ER customers. There are several customers that are replicating arround the world with update anywhere implemented. I would recommend that you use 7.30 to do this. Also, I would recommend that you implement with 7.31 as soon as possible. There are several improvements to ER in the 7.31 product that should greatly enhance its use in large, widespread environments. Also, if you are considering ER, it would really be worth it to get training on its use. >Subject: Full update anywhere >From: jshaley@my-dejanews.com >Date: 1/19/99 6:34 PM Central Standard Time >Message-id: <7838a7$vtn$1@nnrp1.dejanews.com> > >Has anyone successfully implemented the "full update anywhere" feature >of Informix Enterprise Replication.
