How will Informix 7.x and 4 AIX boxes fit together on one database?? Given that OLTP oriented DBMS's sink or swim on shared memory, and AIX is a major pain in the kiester shared memory wise, I don't like the way things look. Add in generally poor performance per dollar and you have a disaster looking for somewhere to happen. Lemme guess - a committee of non technical (or very inexperienced) types suggested this config cause they like playing golf with the IBM rep.... For a big nasty Informix based system, do yourself a favor, go with Sun/Solaris. Greg
