Fast Recovery Mode after ontape cold restore

I am testing a couple of recovery scenarios. After a cold restore using ontape where one disc has been replaced (non RAID) the instance comes up in Fast Recovery Mode and seems to hang there. What actually occurs in Fast Recovery Mode, there are no logical logs? How long should the instance remain in this mode? Are there reasons the instance cannot move from Fast Recovery Mode into Quiescent or Online Mode? Operating Systems: Redhat 6.0 or SCO 5.0.4 Engine: 7.30 Cooked spaces Logs still in rootdbs Thanks
