I believe it's Category 4 for most platforms...I can't think of any where it isn't. > If we want to continue support we have to pay 50% more for maintenance, > which my company will not approve. Unfortunately, that's the price you pay for staying on old software. The reason for this is that you may encounter bugs that have been fixed in subsequent releases. It also requires maintenance of fairly old source code...the more versions of code you have to maintain, the more resources Informix needs to support them. > In addition - we are planning to > begin migrating in about a year. Why not do the upgrade now (on paper, at least) while you can get it for free? You don't have to actually install it until you're ready and I imagine your current support for 7.24 is pretty limited anyway. > In answer to the previous post: No, we cannot upgrade at all because > the application software that we use was ported specifically for us and > for ver 7.24. I would strongly suggest you make a formal request for an upgraded port to the application vendor. Do this in writing. Then contact your Informix account rep (or SE, if you know who that is) and have them find out what kind of relationship, if any, they currently have or have had with Informix. That's obviously no guarantee that anything will happen, but you might be surprised.
