Re: Job recruitment in comp.databases.*

Just my $0.02..... I wonder what that converts to in Sterling :-) I don't have a problem with job postings in general, even if 90% of them are in the good old US of A (yuk!). However, I would agree with previously stated opinions regarding netiquette. (Not sure if I've spelt that right...oh well, never mind). A common format for the subject line should be enforced in some way (yes, I know this group is unmoderated, but...). The one thing that really annoys me is multiple posting of job adverts. What is the problem? The people that use this group for its original purpose are quite capable of spotting the word "job" in a list of subject lines. I suppose the recruiters are more used to advertising in paper media, where cost is proportional to space on the page. With the internet being free, they just take as much "space" as they think they can get away with. Not good enough, chaps and chapesses. The other thing that pi**es me off is totally irrelevant cross-posting. If someone working with Informix wants an Or***e job, I would assume that they would have the common sense to read c.d.oracle (although it maybe worth checking out misc.insanity!). Keep jobs relevant to the group you are posting to. Guess that's all for now. I'm sending this to c.d.i via the mailing list, so if anyone wants to post this message to the other groups covered by this thread, go ahead (complete, unedited, and with my name on please!). Cheers, Richard. .sig removed to keep it short :-)
