chinese characters

hello we have had a request to be able to store chinese characters in a new field in the existing database. We currently do not store anything except English. Can anyone shed light on what has to happen? Do we need a major change to the existing or is it "better" to have a new instance. AIX 5 - informix version 10.FC9 Thanks Tom

What's your engine locale set to? What's your current character set?
