Re: IDS and Snow Leopard
Posted in 2009
Thread covers installing IDS on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Known issue: the Snow Leopard upgrade overwrites the informix user/group entries (Apple's tools start UIDs at 500, the Informix installer at 100), so onstat/oninit report "Group informix not found"; workaround is to manually create the informix user and group (ensuring informix is a member of group informix, with a home directory) and reinstall. A second poster also found the installer .dmg wouldn't mount under the 64-bit kernel ("no mountable file systems") — fix was to boot in 32-bit mode (hold 3 and 2 at boot), run the installer, then reboot 64-bit. His remaining trouble (no install options, onstat not found) turned out to be a wrong/incomplete downloaded image; the smaller 141MB image installed fine.

Ok, I'm new to this...
I've created the informix user and group and the IDS image not
mounting yet. I need to make something else with server admin tools?
perhaps something with informix user ID?
Need some tip on this, thanks in adnvance

Ok. ow it works but something is wrong. I'm able to install the iif package but any options of the documentations is showing. Not prompting with sdk installs not prompting for typical setup neither role saparation. How can I test that IDS is installed and working?

Ok I've created a home directory...but nothing has changed. The "su -
informix" command is working but the "onstat-" returns : -sh: onstat:
command not found
And installing the iif package don't show me any options to install
IDS...like before

Have you actually run the installer - or just mounted the .dmg and
dragged the package to Application
You have to double click and RUN it
