INFORMIX connectivity and heteogenous platforms

Good day ladies and gentlemen and Obnoxio, ;) Until recently I have had INFORMIX server and client applications (using ESQL/C) all running on HPUX-10.20 platform. Now I want to build INFORMIX applications on a Linux platform and have it access the INFORMIX server on the HPUX machine (preferably using as much of the existing ESQL/C code as possible). What are the additional products and steps needed to accomplish this goal? Is it even possible? Sorry if this is such an "newbie" question, but this is really new territory for me.
