Configuring raw devices - Solstice Disk Suite
Posted in 2000
Hello everybody, I have posted the "Configuring raw devices" message a couple days ago. A lot of thanks to everyone who responded. Well, the problem continued... As I've mentioned in one of my previous emails - we were trying to use a software RAID created by Solstice Disk Suite on Solaris 8. When software created the RAID1, it referenced it's devices as the pseudo devices. I spend about a day trying to initialize a new instance of Informix 9.21 using a link to a raw device that was created by Solstice, but every time had : "Assert Failed: I/O error, Primary Chunk '/db/data/rootdbs' -- Offline" After a little experimenting, I linked rootdbs not to a pseudo device, but to and actual raw partition that is not a part of RAID1 as: rootdbs -> /dev/rdsk/c1t24d0s3 (2Gb partition) And after that I was able to start my new instance of Informix. Of course I can use Informix mirror to secure the data. But in this case my partitions are not a part of any RAID, so they are not even striped. If you will be able to advise some workaround, it would be extremely helpful. Have a good weekend everyone, Sincerely, Elena.
