Hello experts: System 1: aix 5.3, ids v11.50.fc2 system 2: aix 5.3, ids 9.40fc9 On system 1, table created with a 16k page size. On system 2, synonym pointing to above table. Just wondering what the performance impact might be with this sort of setup...seeing that v9.40fc9 doesn't have variable page sizes, and making sure that this will actually work. System 2 will also insert into the synonym as well as query it... Thanks for any and all help .... Peter Logan Senior Database Administrator Phone: 616/878-8309
Access to the synonym is handled like any distributed query, only the selected rows are transmitted back from the remote server, not whole pages, and they are kept in private session memory not in the buffer cache so the page size difference shouldn't make a difference.
