RE: Report Tools over IDS

Mike, Absolutely, I would expect this from BO. But its still a separate system than from your normal app server delivering your company's website/portal. So you'd have to include it in to the 'mash up'. That's why I suggested that Mark dig deeper in to the question. There's more to this than meets the eye. I guess you could have a page within a frame redirect to your BO's web report interface. > Subject: RE: Report Tools over IDS > To: im_gumby@hotmail.com > CC: informix-list@iiug.org; jcatmull@xtivia.com > From: mlv03@healthresearch.org > Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2009 11:44:34 -0400 > > If you purchase Business Objects Edge, you can publish your Crystal Reports > to the web. Crystal Reports can definitely create web output along with many other forms. And it can support "dynamic" or timed reports (which is usually based on how long it takes to run the report) and even combinations put into a dashboard. I think the GUI tools are outstanding. The cost factor really kicks in, though, on the distribution side. Crystal Report Server (or whatever the current name is) can get expensive. However, because Crystal is widely used, there are 3rd party distribution tools that are cheaper. There are plenty of other options, too. The back-end server doesn't matter very much for the options out there as Informix supports the main connection technologies.
