David, Head to http://www.iiug.org and look under the Linux links, and to http://www.informix.com under the Developer Network, under Linux. At IIUG there is a brand new Informix on Linux FAQ by Kurt Wall that is just what you need to get started, as well as HOW-TO documents covering many of the basic topics. If this isn't enough, there's always the documentation and then c.d.i.
