We do Archives and continuous Log Backup to a remote location for the following raesons: 1. physical destruction of HW (even though the hardware is in a vault) 2. Software Errors of any kind (Informix, and Application) [this happens] (point in time restore [Tech Supp can do this]) 3. Unnoticed write Error ? (i am not sure if this happens) 4. What if two disks fail simultaneously ===> DATA LOSS (the whole Volume Group). This happened to us, when a technitian made an Error while replacing one defective disk (luckily this RAID only contained archives). so long Andreas Zeugswetter Sparkassen Datendienst AG&CoKG AUSTRIA Vienna
