Hi, We have a large application written in NewEra and installed in a large client base world wide, ALL of which are using informix backends. We now have a new client, wishing to use Oracle 7/8 as the Backend. We have having great problems mapping Informix NewEra data types to Oracle data types. Anyone ever tried this before, it's the windows developed in window painter against an Informix database that cause the most problems. Our Business classes can be easily changed. Any assistenace appreciated, Regards Andy Anelay Topas International

Just include it in the price :-) We have having great problems >mapping > Informix NewEra data types to Oracle data types. Which ones? If it's Informix DATETIME or INTERVAL data types, you're SOL. There *are* no equivalents. Nasty workarounds, but no equivalents. Oracle also doesn't really have number types in the same manner as Informix does. They just pretend. > Anyone ever tried this before, it's the windows developed in window >painter against > an Informix database that cause the most problems. Or get a reverse-engineering tool and point it at the Informix schema, then tell it to generata an Oracle 7/8 schema. ER/Studio can do this, IIRC. Lotsa luck and better start thinking where you're going to go from NewEra. Peter Wiley
