Hello Mike ...
Informix is our favorite rdms.
But one of our customers wanted to use the NEW and VERY GOOD
microsoft sql-server.
So we tried to migrate our application (powerbuilder) to the
sql-server.
Bad luck.
You cannot get out, whether a row in a table is locked or not.
Trying to update a locked row, the egine waits until the
lock is released. No way out!!!
As we doesn't want to re-configure and re-build our application, we
kicked off the ms-sql-server, waiting for release 7.x.
Informix against Oracle !!!
like
BMW against Mercedes
But:
Oracle doesn't support dirty read!
