ISAM error: deadlock detected

Hi, I have been running a suite of Informix 4GL Batch programs for over 2 years now. The have been running fine up until now :-( The system administrator swapped the Unix machine for another better/faster one and said that all the programs/configuration etc... has been exactly copied. Only now the programs that perform an update statistics get deadlocks. I can't understand it as LOCK MODE is set to WAIT and Database Logging is ON. Has anyone had a similar problem or got any ideas. It also gets deadlocks on the following SQL select distinct colname from systables a, syscolumns b, sysindexes c where a.tabid = c.tabid and a.tabid = b.tabid and c.part1 = b.colno and tabname = 'Our_TableName' Specs:- Unix SunOS 5.7 box.
