If you do not wish to use setNet try OpenLink ODBC drivers : www.openlinksw.com We have been using this with VB ok for two years. We have had problems killing it if OnLine aborts, it stays connected to a port so OnLine will not come back up. If you don't mind using setNet try Intersolv : www.intersolv.com As to native drivers provided by MS for VB, I can't help.To get sqlca you can do this : select dbinfo('sqlca.sqlerrd1') from <table name> <table name> is the name of a table in the db, this select will get you a serial value after an insert, so we replace <table name> with name of the table with the serial column that we have just inserted into.
