RE: change of server made network problems - Solaris 2.8 Bug
Posted in 2000
Oh,
welcome to the club!!
I had to spend at least 3 days on that...
If you look for a document number 124759 on Informix web site - you'll find
a detail reference.
I think Solaris 2.8 introduced some changes to the Network Socket/tli code
and defaults to IPv6 instead of IPv4, so your ontlitcp connection will
produce an error.
I believe it was fixed in 7.31, and for sure in 9.21, because we had to
order that one from our sales rep.
If you can not obtain a new copy of the server software - I would suggest to
do one of the following two things:
1. You still should be able to use shared memory connection to the databases
residing on this server, so configure
'onipcshm' in your sqlhosts;
2. If by some reason you can not do it - then install a previous version of
SunOS.
Sincerely,
Elena.
