On your production server: * Set INFORMIXSERVER to point to the network-aware server name/alias. * Create an entry in your sqlhosts file. You can probably cut and paste from your development sqlhosts file. * Create an entry in your /etc/services file. Again, you can get this from your development /etc/services file. * Add the development server name in your /etc/hosts, unless you're using DNS/NIS. * ONCONFIG doesn't really matter if you're doing remote connections...you should probably be doing any administration locally on whatever machine needs any changes. * INFORMIXSQLHOSTS just points to your local sqlhosts file, which contains an entry referencing to your development instance.
