Ellen, Something like this can be confusing and seem that something is wrong with the software you are using when it could be unix or lan (net) limitations. We have had this problem several different ways. Never exactly like you are having it. UNIX could be your problem. Some kernals configure to only allow so large a file no matter what you have ulimit set to. I know you nixed this earlier and it may not be your problem, but when you are swatting at flys you have to look for them everywhere. Also it could be a limitation of the largest file that can be handled across a net. We had some limitations of 2 meg on our ethernet in the beginning and then on our Sperry net we later had a 10 meg limitation. Then it could be a limitation on the Informix software preventing the size of your transactions' output. Sounds like a size limitation to me. But I've been wrong before. cheryl gross red river army depot 903-334-3518
