Stored procedure invalid month in date error

I'm posting transactions from a VB5 script to an ODS 7.22 stored procedure that contains a datetime year to second entry. I get intermittent -1205 "Invalid month in date" errors returned from the ODBC call. When I debug the file all the fields including the datetime are correctly formatted. Has anyone any ideas ?
