RE: Which monitoring tool is best with Informix Online 7.12?

Wow! One that I actually know the answer too!!! Your problem is that: 1) You are not running on an x-windows display. Db/cockpit is x-windows based. If you are telnetting in from a PC, it won't work unless you have a PC x-server. Some that come to mind are: reflections/X, hummingbird, and netmanage. 2) Alternatively, you don't have the display variable set. To set this, do: export DISPLAY=hostname:0 (Hostname is the ip address or hostname of the machine you are sitting at -- just use ":0" if you are at the console) or possibly, if you are using csh setenv DISPLAY hostname:0 Hope this helps. All, Am interested in exploring some monitoring tools for Informix Online 7.12 on HP-UX 9.04 (Soon to goto Online 7.23 & HP-UX 10.20). So far I have heard about BMC Patrol and db/cockpit. Which of these two is the prefered choice or are there others I should know about? db/cockpit problem ---------------------------- At the moment I am attempting to start db/cockpit which comes packaged with Online 7.12. Running the onprobe daemon AOK. Have setup all the necessary links in /etc/services and sqlhosts. I am attempting to run this on a HP Xterm. This is the error I receive: COCKPIT STARTUP-FATAL mmi_eat_extra_options: -55352: unable to open display '<NULL>' Unfortunately "finderr" utility does not have error numbers in that range. Nor does the db/cockpit user manual cover any error conditions. Can someone help me please.
